Student Spotlight
Meet Rozalynn: From TechRise Member
to Google Certified.
One student’s journey from exploring technology to building a real pathway toward a career in IT and cloud computing.
A certificate is easy to reduce to a line on a résumé.
But sometimes that line represents something much bigger.
For Rozalynn Gholston, earning the Google IT Support Professional Certificate is one more step toward the future she is actively building for herself — and she’s not stopping there.
Rozalynn is a TechRise member working toward a career in IT support while simultaneously pursuing an AWS Cloud Solutions Specialist Technical Certificate at West Georgia Technical College. She’s applying everything she learns to her day-to-day work as a Dock Associate and Auditor at Amazon — turning every shift into a classroom.
She Didn’t Just Want a Certificate
Credentials matter. But the real value is what happens while you’re earning them.
The Google IT Support Professional Certificate isn’t a participation trophy. It covers the foundations that employers actually test for: troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration and security.
You practice troubleshooting. You learn new systems. You get comfortable not knowing the answer immediately. You start recognizing that technical confidence isn’t something you wait for — it is something you build.
The goal isn’t collecting badges. It’s building proof that you can keep learning what’s next.
What She’s Building Toward
Rozalynn is open about where she wants to go: entry-level IT support, help desk and service desk roles in the Atlanta metro area. She’s not waiting for someone to hand her an opportunity — she’s stacking credentials, building skills and making herself impossible to overlook.
Google IT Support. AWS Cloud Solutions. Day-to-day operational experience at one of the largest logistics companies in the world.
That’s a foundation.

One Credential Can Change What’s Possible
A credential can’t promise someone a career. But it can help a student build momentum.
It can strengthen a résumé, introduce new technical concepts and give someone a concrete reminder that they are capable of learning difficult things.
Rozalynn said it herself after completing the certification:
